Locanda Verde

It's one of the hottest restaurants in New York, so it's no wonder we could only get a reservation at 5:45pm or 10:30pm.  5:45pm it was and even that early, Locanda Verde was jammed.  If you're planning a trip to New York (not last minute), call at least a few weeks in advance.  Here's the rundown of what we ordered - lamb meatball sliders with caprino and cucumber, sheep's milk ricotta with sea salt and herbs, marinated beet salad, steak tartar with hazelnuts and truffles, roasted brussels sprouts with pancetta and pecorino, pumpkin agnolotti with brown butter, sage and amaretti and gigantone with sunday night ragu and provolone picante.  My favourite thing had to be the ricotta, we ate every last bite and needed more bread for it.  It was almost like cream cheese but 100 times better.  Also, it was my first time trying steak tartar, not the biggest fan but it was very flavourful.  I think it's the idea of it that puts me off a little bit.  We skipped dessert here and walked a few short blocks to Billy's for cupcakes.
