NU Bügel

Sandwiched between heavily graffitied and worn down buildings on Augusta in Kensington Market, NU Bügel stands out, well because it looks so new.  Inside, market hipsters enjoy freshly wood fired bagels and coffee (free refills!) recovering from the night before.  Six different kinds of bagels are offered (plain, poppy, sesame, onion, everything and twister) but run low as the day goes on.  You can keep things simple with just cream cheese or get toppings like lox, roast beef, salty corned beef, smoked chicken or tuna (more options available as well. Plus soups and salads).

It's important to note these bagels are similar to montreal style (sweeter, denser and not salty), which is all good in our books.  Closed Mondays.

Polpo - London

It's easy to over order at Polpo and there are a couple reasons why. One, the menu is populated with give or take 46 dishes that all sound too good to pass up.  Two, it's tapas style and when that's the case, you always think you can eat more than you can chew.  But, what's wrong with over ordering in the first place? It's better to try a bunch of things you really want than to regret it later.  Right?

The Venetian restaurant has three locations in London - Soho, Smithfield and Covent Garden - which hosted our December visit.

(Potato & parmesan crocchette)
(Chopped chicken liver crostini)
(Roasted grapes, pine nuts, honey & goat cheese)

(Beef & pork meatballs)
(Cauliflower & fontina gratin)

Brunch at Delux

Looking for a fresh spin on Sunday brunch?  Delux restaurant on Ossington transports you to Havana with its traditional tostones, rice and beans and conch fritters.
The menu is chock full of Cuban inspired dishes including the duck confit picadillo hash, the perfect looking breakfast sandwich (over easy egg, avocado, tomato, queso fresco cheese), eggs and house made chorizo sausage, and the 'Cuban breakfast' with poached eggs and mouthwatering slow roasted pork.

Be sure to finish the meal off with Delux's made to order donuts.  You won't be sorry you spent your Sunday down south.
